Confidentiality
Patient confidentiality is a cornerstone of medical practice and breeches represent a serious issue. This website, similar to a large variety of other medical education resources, uses 'patient stories' to highlight learning points in a way that is educational and memorable. These stories are entirely fictional though may draw on learning points that have been obtained from an amalgam of different clinical experiences. Any correlation with real patients is entirely coincidental and unintentional.
As a site that is based in the UK we follow the guidance provided by the GMC, and we urge contributors and users to do the same. Links to specific advice on different topics can be found below:
- Guidance on Confidentiality and other aspects of good practice
- Guidance on Use of Social Media
So in general, just keep to the levels of conduct that you would adhere to in clinical or public settings; be sensible and keep safe.
